Privacy Policy
Last Updated: July 15, 2026
The Education Covenant Project (“ECP,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through educationcovenantproject.com (the “Site”), how we use and share it, and the choices available to you. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
We collect information you choose to give us when you use the Site, including:
- Contact form submissions: name, email address, phone number, school affiliation, city and state, and any message you include.
- Pledge form submissions: name, contact information, school or community affiliation, and your indicated pledge intent. A pledge is a non-binding statement of intent only — see the Terms of Use for details. No payment or financial account information is collected as part of a pledge.
- Any other information you voluntarily provide when corresponding with us (e.g., email, phone).
We use this information to respond to your inquiry, process your pledge, share updates relevant to your school or community, and communicate with you about ECP’s work.
Information Collected Automatically
Like most websites, we use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site. This may include pages visited, time on site, device and browser type, general geographic region (not precise location), and how you found the Site. This data is aggregated and is not used to personally identify you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form
- Process and track pledge submissions on behalf of participating schools
- Share updates, newsletters, or program information with subscribers
- Understand and improve how visitors use the Site
- Support ECP’s mission, operations, and reporting to participating schools
- Process direct donations to ECP once that capability is available
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Pledge Data & Participating Schools
If you submit a pledge associated with a participating school, we may share your pledge information (such as your name, contact details, and pledge intent) with that school so the school can plan for anticipated scholarship funding. We do not share your information with any Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) unless and until you choose to make an actual donation once the federal tax credit becomes active in 2027, at which point separate terms from that SGO or donation platform will apply.
4. Email Communications
If you sign up to receive updates, your contact information may be stored in an email or SMS marketing platform (such as Mailchimp, Constant Contact, or a similar service) that helps us send and manage communications. You may unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link included in each message, or by contacting us directly.
5. How We Share Information
We may share information with:
- Service providers who help us operate the Site, process pledges, send communications, or process donations (e.g., hosting providers, email platforms, analytics tools, payment processors)
- Participating schools, as described in Section 3, in connection with pledges made for their community
- Legal or regulatory authorities, if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of ECP or others
These service providers are permitted to use your information only to perform services on our behalf. We do not share personal information with outside organizations for advertising or unrelated commercial purposes.
6. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use Google Analytics cookies to understand Site activity and improve the user experience. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may limit some functionality of the Site.
7. Data Retention
We retain contact, pledge, and communication information for as long as needed to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, or as required by law.
8. Data Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you provide. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children’s Privacy
The Site is intended for use by adults in the United States. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.
